In October of 2005, Jenny and I , along with good friends, Don and Janet Longacre, took a cruise from New York to Boston Massachusetts, the Canadian ports of Saint John, Halifax, Quebec City, and Sydney. Our last port was Bar Harbor Maine. We also had a couple of days of sightseeing in New York City.
Our ship was the brand new Norwegian Cruise Line's Jewel. The ship was beautiful and comfortable. The entertainment was good, the gambling was good for Jenny but not the rest of us. The food was inconsistent. very good at times, mundane at others.
We had some rain and very rough seas. We also had some sunshine. The ship was very stable. During a storm in the Gulf of Saint Laurence, the wind reached 50 miles per hour and the waves were 18 feet high. The ship was a little bumpy but there was no sign of the dreaded "Mal de Mar".
The real jewel of the trip was the City of Quebec. The steady rain didn't dampen the beauty and charm of this city. Jenny and I plan to return someday for a closer look.
The fall colors in Nova Scotia were spectacular. I hope that my pictures do them justice.
